Amritsar Hockey Club in association with Spring Dale Educational Society launched a hockey academy for boys under 14 and 17, under 19 years of age. This project is the brainchild of Late Dr. Shivinder Singh Sandhu and Balwinder Singh Shammi Director Amritsar Hockey Club,  Sukminder Singh Mann Chairman 526 students from all over Punjab appeared for the screening test involving mental and physical endurance tests. After preliminary trials nearly 100 boys were short-listed whom a committee comprising of S. Hardip Singh Dhillon IPS Secretary Punjab Hockey Association, Olympian, Jugraj Singh and Prabhjot Singh then screened. On the basis of merit finally 60 boys were selected.

 

 The academy is presently being housed at House No. 4551, Guru Nanak Wara, P.O. Khalsa College, Amritsar - 143001 which is being run by Amritsar Hockey Club (Regd.). A professional coach, Kuljit Singh Baba, is providing them training in a special hockey ground prepared next to the GNDU Astro-turf ground. Spring Dale Education Society has taken full responsibility of providing them free education including books, stationary, study materials, aids, IT facilities. The team brought laurels to the academy by winning the under 19 CBSE North Zone Hockey Championship held at Doraha (Punjab), Gold Medal, under 17 Punjab State hockey Championship Patiala Runners Up, under 17 41st Junior Nehru Hockey Tournament New Delhi Runners Up, Under 19 CBSE School National Championship help at Bhimavaram (A.P) won Gold Medal, Under 19 Idea Cup help at Amritsar Gold Medal, Under 19th Punjab State hockey Championship held at Jalandhar 3rd Place,  CBSE School National Hockey Championship held at Panipat (Haryana) won Gold Medal and won many all India tournaments in 2013-14 .
